Improve Your Smile With Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin layers of material that cover the front of your teeth and are designed to improve their appearance.

Veneers can be made either of porcelain (ceramic) or composite resin (of plastic and glass).

Porcelain veneers tend to look more realistic and last longer than resin veneers, but they are also more expensive.

Veneers are a permanent dental treatment, and their color cannot be altered after they’ve been applied.

When might someone want veneers?

Veneers are generally used to improve the appearance of teeth rather than to repair damage.

You might choose to have veneers on your teeth if they are:

  • discolored or stained
  • crooked, oddly shaped or chipped
  • widely spaced and leave a gap

Veneers can only be applied if your teeth and gums are in good condition. They may not be suitable if you grind or clench your teeth because that can crack the veneer.

What happens during a dental veneers procedure?

The dentist will first remove a thin layer of enamel from the tooth so that the veneer does not stick out. You might be given a local anesthesia for this procedure. The dentist will then take an impression of your tooth. The mould is sent away to a lab where the veneer will be made.

In the meantime, your dentist can give you a temporary veneer.

During your second visit, the dentist will make sure the veneer fits well and that it looks good. The bonding cement is then set using a beam of light.

A composite resin veneer is completed in one visit. The dentist applies the material to your tooth in layers, each hardened using a beam of light. Finally, the tooth is shaped and polished. This can be uncomfortable but it shouldn’t be painful.

More About Porcelain Veneers

Dental Esthetics Center uses up to date pressed porcelain technology to create precisely fitting veneers. Precision and quality is everything.

They are extremely versatile, and can be used to alter the shape, size, position and color of unseemly teeth. Once bonded correctly to teeth, they are extremely strong and look very natural, and will never separate. Each veneer is handcrafted by Dental Ceramicists, who combine artistry with science and expert knowledge of materials to drastically improve smiles.

Porcelain Veneers can also be used to give the appearance of instant Orthodontic straightening, without the requirement of braces or clear aligners in some cases.

Are Veneers the right option for you?

Teeth veneers are best used for cosmetic purposes. They are ideal for discoloration corrections, closing “gappy” smiles, altering the appearance of “crowded teeth”, and repairing the loss of tooth enamel from tooth wear, erosion, grinding, abrasion.

How long do Veneers last?

Teeth Veneers have varying life spans, and this is determined by the type of material used, the Dentist inserting them, and how you look after them.

In our experience at Dental Esthetics Center, Porcelain Veneers that we inserted over 20 years ago, still look as beautiful today as they did when we first inserted them. This is because we use superior EMax Porcelain and do not compromise on the quality. Of course, Veneers are as fragile as teeth, and Porcelain is just as easily chipped or broken.

Resin Veneers are generally a shorter-term solution and are usually chosen due to budget restraints. However, with the right technique, design and proper care taken, our Resin Veneers can last 5+ years. Again, Resin Veneers can be easily chipped or broken as can normal teeth. General care is required.
